Alberta Athletes Make Their Mark at 2026 Canadian Futures Showcase

Edmonton, AB - Alberta was well represented among some of the country’s top young baseball talent at the 2026 Canadian Futures Showcase in Vancouver, BC.

Hosted by the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy and presented by Rogers, the 12th annual Showcase took place September 17–20 at Rogers Field at Nat Bailey Stadium. The event was held in Vancouver for the first time after traditionally being hosted in Toronto.

The Showcase brings together top Canadian prospects to compete in front of collegiate and professional scouts while providing athletes with an opportunity to showcase their abilities alongside many of the best young players in the country.


Alberta Representation

Seventeen athletes listed with Alberta hometowns competed at this year’s Showcase:

  • Josh Daloise | Edmonton
  • Daril Rodriguez | Red Deer
  • Mac Warawa | Red Deer
  • Brooks Froese | Red Deer
  • Zach Macdonald | Lacombe
  • Dayne Liske | Drayton Valley
  • Ethan Renaud | Okotoks
  • Riley Wolbeck | Leduc

Alberta also had another familiar name at the event in Tanner Morris (Ontario), who represented Team Alberta at the 2026 Canada Cup.


Alberta Highlights

The week included several notable accomplishments from the Alberta contingent.

Dayne Liske took home Showcase MVP honours, highlighting a strong week in Vancouver.

Daril Rodriguez was selected to compete in the Canadian Futures Showcase Home Run Derby.

Alberta was also represented on the championship-winning Team New Blue, with Cohen Miller, Hudson Harding and Zach Macdonald helping their squad finish the week on top.
