BAEL Players of the Week: June 13-14

Cole Prachar | 2027 | OF/1B | Webber Wildcats | Uncommitted
Prachar continued to swing a hot bat this week for the Wildcats, going 7 for 12 with 2 triples, a homerun, 4 RBIs, 7 runs, and added 2 stolen bases. This brings his slashline for the year up to .452/.553/.774. Although Prachar has been impactful this season for the Wildcats, the most exciting part of his game is his upside. Standing at 6-foot-6, 205-pounds, the sky is the limit for Prachar. He runs a 6.8, has plenty of athleticism, and will undoubtedly add strength to his frame as he develops. The bat has progressively been showing signs of having more impact, and that will continue going forward. The Wildcats product is not only a top 2027 in the BAEL at this moment, but his upside makes him one of the most exciting players in the league.
Kayden Blayney | 2028 | MIF | Webber Wildcats | Uncommitted
Blayney has emerged as one of the most impressive 2028s in the BAEL, and has been a significant contributor both offensively and defensively for the Wildcats. In last weekend's 4 game set against the Cardinals, he went 7 for 13 with a double, 2 RBIs, 3 runs, and 2 stolen bases. While there isn’t much impact in the bat at the moment, which isn’t a surprise for a 2028 grad, his 6-foot-0, 150-pound frame leaves room to fill out and add strength to an already athletic body. He will also have the chance to stick at a premium position on the infield, with clean footwork and range that will only improve as he develops. As a first-year player in the BAEL, Blayney will be one to follow for the next couple seasons.
Kallan Hilhorst | 2027 | OF/RHP | Black Gold 47s | Uncommitted
Hilhorst, who was named to Team Alberta at the Western Canada Prospect Series last fall, has continued to be a threat at the plate for Black Gold. This past weekend he went 8 for 13 with 2 doubles, a homerun, 8 RBIs, and 8 runs, bringing his 2026 slashline up to .351/.439/.439. At 5-foot-8, 150-pounds there’s more bat-to-ball than power at the dish currently, working mostly up the middle and to pullside, and having struck out just 7 times in 66 plate appearances. However, he has shown signs of impact, hitting a ball deep to left-centre for a homerun against Fort McMurray. As the 2027 grad continues to refine his approach, he will undoubtedly be an impact for the 47s for the next couple seasons.
Luke Mahar | 2026 | RHP/OF | Parkland Twins | Big Bend CC
Picking Mahar as a Player of the Week was an easy decision. The Big Bend CC commit threw a perfect game against Black Gold last Tuesday, striking out 8 over 7 innings. Mahar has run the fastball up to 85, spins the breaking ball north of 2800 rpm, and has been a contributor to a dominant Twins pitching staff. Not only has he had an impact on the mound, but the 5-foot-10, 190-pound two-way has been one of Parkland's biggest threats at the dish as well, slashing .459/.571/.595 over 50 plate appearances. He has a strong sense of the strikezone and puts the ball in play at a high rate, walking 11 times to just 5 strikeouts. There’s no doubt Mahar will continue to have an impact on both sides of the ball for the Twins, who are currently 16-0 in league play.
