BAEL Players of the Week: June 6-7

Nathan Jones | 2027 | INF/RHP | Parkland Twins | Uncommitted
There aren’t many 2027s in the BAEL that are swinging a hotter bat than Jones, and that continued this past weekend. He played a major part in the Twins sweep of the Bucks, going 5 for 12, with 3 doubles, 4 RBIs, 7 runs, and 3 stolen bases. This brings his 2026 slashline to .448/.585/.621. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound two-way has present bat-to-ball skills and a strong sense of the strike zone, having struck out 3 times and walked 8 times in 41 plate appearances. He primarily works on a line to his pullside, utilizing a toe-tap to get on time. Although he hasn’t been on the mound much so far, there’s upside there as well, with the ability to run the fastball up to 83 mph. So far in 2026, Jones has shown that he is one of the top 2027s in the BAEL and has been a major contributor for the 1st place Twins.
Carter Skjonsberg | 2027 | OF/2B | Red Deer Rangers | Uncommitted
Since the first pitch of the BAEL season, Carter Skjonsberg has had an impact at the dish for the Rangers. In this past weekend's split with the Cubs, he went 6 for 11 with 2 doubles, 2 triples, 4 RBIs, 4 runs, 3 walks, and added a stolen base. At 5-foot-8, 165-pounds, Skjonsberg is versatile defensively, with the ability to play in both the infield and outfield. At the dish, he uses a high leg kick to get on time, and is short to the ball with quick hands. He has a strong sense for the strike zone as well, as he’s tied for the team lead with 11 walks. In his first year in the BAEL, Skjonsberg has solidified himself as a 2027 to keep an eye on.
Chase Hembling | 2026 | CIF | Parkland Twins | Uncommitted
Although there are many reasons for Parkland’s success so far this year, Hembling has been a major part of it. The 6-foot-0, 195-pound corner infielder had a weekend to remember, going 10 for 13, with 3 doubles, 7 RBIs, 4 runs, and a stolen base. The bat has been heating up as of late, showing more impact as we've gotten later into the season. He’s shown on numerous occasions that he can elevate and do damage to the opposite field while also showing the ability to put the ball in play consistently, striking out just 3 times in 49 plate appearances. The uncommitted senior is one of the top remaining bats on the board and shouldn’t be uncommitted for long.
Dzeo McNaughton | 2027 | UTL/LHP | Parkland Twins | Uncommitted
After a successful 2025 BAEL campaign with Parkland, McNaughton was selected to play for Team Alberta at the Western Canada Prospect Series last fall. Ever since then, he has continued to hit wherever he plays. This past weekend was no different, going 7 for 16 with 4 doubles, 6 RBIs, and 6 runs. With a contact-first approach, having struck out just twice in 45 plate appearances, the 5-foot-11, 165-pound two-way has shown a bit more impact in the bat as of late, finding more gaps and collecting extra base hits at a higher rate. He stays balanced in the box and uses a toe-tap to get on time, often being a very tough out at the top of the Twins lineup. There is no doubt McNaughton is one of the top bats in the BAEL.
