BAEL Players of the Week: May 10 & 11
Garet Ostapchuk | 2026 | OF/P | Parkland Twins | Uncommitted
There’s a lot to like in the Parkland Twins product. Ostapchuk, who was a member of Team Alberta’s Western Canadian Prospect Series roster last fall, had a strong weekend going 4 for 10 with 2 extra-base hits and driving in 4 runs. There’s feel for the barrel, having only struck out in 3 of his 26 plate appearances, while showing athleticism in all aspects of his game. With room to add strength to his 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame and an already strong arm, 85 mph from the outfield, the upside is evident and Ostapchuk will be a 2026 to follow in the BAEL for the foreseeable future.
Arlo Brubaker-Plitt | 2026 | SS/P | Webber Wildcats | Uncommitted
After a slow start to the year, Brubaker-Plitt’s bat came alive this past weekend for the Wildcats. He went 6 for 10 with 5 runs, 7 RBIs, and added 2 stolen bases as well. As soon as you lay eyes on Brubaker-Plitt, who stands at 5-foot-11, 165-pounds, his athleticism is the first thing you notice. On the infield, he moves well laterally with quick feet that get him into a throwing position efficiently. There’s plenty of arm utility and strength as he can get the ball across the diamond at 87 mph. His athleticism alone makes him a player to keep an eye on, and if the bat continues to trend upwards, Brubaker-Plitt will have an impact on both sides of the ball.
Hunter King | 2026 | OF/P | Sherwood Park Dukes | Uncommitted
King had a standout performance this weekend, going 6 for 12 with a double for the Dukes. At 6-foot-2, 175-pounds, there’s still plenty of room to add strength having an impact on both sides of the ball. After a slow start to the season, he has only struck out once in his last 16 plate appearances to go along with 7 hits. King, who was a member of Team Alberta’s Western Canadian Prospect Series roster last fall, has plenty of upside which makes him a player to watch.
Zach Donovan | 2025 | OF | Calgary Cubs | Uncommitted
One of the big reasons for the Calgary Cubs early season success has been because of Zach Donovan’s impact at the dish. Although Donovan wasn’t as impactful this weekend, he still collected 4 hits and drove in a pair of runs in the process. In his first 19 at-bats of the year, Donovan had 11 hits with 3 doubles and 2 triples. At 5-foot-11, 135-pounds, added strength will have a major impact on his ability to do damage at the plate. The uncommitted senior will look to continue swinging a hot bat for the Cubs as they set out to get back in the win column after a tough 4 game set against the Rangers.
Easton Bell | 2026 | OF | Webber Wildcats | Uncommitted
Although only stepping up to the plate 8 times this past weekend, Easton Bell had a major impact for the Wildcats. He had 4 hits, 2 going for extra bases, a walk, 3 runs, and drove in 4. He showed the ability to elevate to the big part of the field, collecting a ground rule double on a ball hit to his backside gap. With added strength, the 5-foot-11, 160-pound outfielder will see improvements on both sides of the ball. After a slow start to the year at the plate, Bell’s bat has appeared to get hot at the right time.
