BAEL Players of the Week: May 17 & 18
Declan Wurz | 2026 | OF/INF | Calgary Bucks | Uncommitted
Wurz was a major contributor this past weekend for the Bucks. The uncommitted 2026 went 5 for 12 with 2 doubles, 10 runs, 4 RBIs, and 8 stolen bases. At 6-foot-5, 205-pounds, the frame immediately stands out. Wurz is a 6.9 runner with a mid-80s arm across the infield. His speed translates well on the bases, with 12 stolen bases on the year and hasn’t been caught yet. His athleticism and frame, with room to fill out, make him an uncommitted 2026 worth keeping an eye on as the season progresses.
Henry Evans | 2026 | 3B | Webber Wildcats | Uncommitted
Evans’ bat has been one of the more impactful for the Wildcats so far this season. Against the Dukes, he went 4 for 8 with 3 runs, 3 RBIs, and 3 stolen bases. With the 5-foot-10, 200-pound third baseman, it’s more contact over power at the moment while generally working to his pull-side. However, with added strength his bat will be that much more effective. Evans is another uncommitted 2026 that has been making some noise in the BAEL.
Bo Anderson | 2027 | INF | Calgary Bucks | Uncommitted
After a slow start during the Bucks opening weekend, Anderson’s bat came alive in the 4 game set against the Cubs. Going 4 for 10, with 3 doubles, 5 runs, 4 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases. The 2027 grad stands at 6-foot-3, 180-pounds and moves well on the infield. With plenty of room to fill out his frame, there’s upside with Anderson as he’ll look to become more physical on both sides of the ball. He was a member of Team Alberta at the Western Canadian Prospect Series last fall and has been one of the more intriguing first-year BAEL players so far this season.
Lucas Chappell | 2026 | C/INF | Sherwood Park Dukes | Uncommitted
Chappell had a tough stretch last weekend against the Twins, but his bat came back to life in week 4 going 3 for 9 with 2 extra base hits. On top of his bat having an impact for the Dukes, he has been a workhorse behind the dish defensively, catching the vast majority of games. At 5-foot-10, 160-pounds his athleticism is present on both sides of the ball, and generally works to his pull-side with his LHB. Chappell is a key contributor to the Dukes and will look to keep it going as the season continues.
AJ Weimer | 2026 | C/INF | Calgary Cubs | Uncommitted
Weimer has been one of the more consistent hitters so far this year in the BAEL, and that continued this past weekend against the Bucks going 4 for 14 with a triple, 4 runs, and 4 RBIs. He gets on-base at a high clip, accumulating 19 walks in 70 plate appearances and has speed on the bases, with 4 triples and 7 stolen bases. Behind the dish, he stood out at the BAEL Pre-season Camp in Calgary with a 75 mph arm and a 1.98 POP time that plays in game as well. The 6-foot-0, 160-pound 2026 has athleticism and upside on both sides of the ball and is an uncommitted player that will have an impact at the next level.
