BAEL Players of the Week: May 2-3 & 9-10

Jace Richardson | 2026 | OF | St. Albert Cardinals | Uncommitted
Richardson, who was the 2025 BAEL Provincials MVP last fall, picked up right where he left off to start 2026. The uncommitted senior racked up 9 hits in the first two weekends, including 3 doubles, 2 home runs, 11 runs, and 10 RBIs. The latter three of which lead the Cardinals. The 6-foot-0, 175-pound outfielder is one of the top uncommitted bats in the BAEL. He works primarily to his pullside, and can elevate with power to that same side. As a leadoff type bat, his plate discipline is evident and uses his 6.9 speed on the bases effectively. He tracks the ball well in the outfield and has a mid-80s arm to go with it.
Sawyer Passmore | 2027 | INF | Black Gold 47s | Uncommitted
It didn’t take long for Sawyer Passmore to impress in his first year in the BAEL. In the first two weekends he has collected a league leading 14 hits, 3 of which were for extra bases, and a team leading 9 RBIs. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound infielder utilizes a wide, athletic stance in the box to easily get on time. With more contact over power at the moment, he’s able to use his bat-to-ball skills and spray the ball to all fields. With plenty of upside in his frame, Passmore has the ability to add strength and insert more impact into that bat.
Declan Wurz | 2026 | UTIL/RHP | Calgary Bucks | USC Lancaster
Wurz, who was a member of the All-BAEL Team in 2025, has continued to hit in the first couple weeks of 2026. Despite the Bucks only playing in 4 league games thus far, the USC Lancaster commit has 8 hits, 4 RBIs and 5 Runs. At 6-foot-5, 205-pounds, Wurz’s frame immediately stands out. With plenty of athleticism and an 84 mph arm from the outfield, Wurz has the ability to play all over the field. His 6.9 speed plays on the bases as well, having collected 4 stolen bases in as many games. It won’t be a surprise if we see Wurz towards the top of several offensive leaderboards at season's end.
Coal Chase | 2026 | C/RHP | Black Gold 47s | Uncommitted
The uncommitted senior is off to a hot start in his first year in the BAEL. Although a small sample size, he’s slashing .421/.522/.526 through his first 7 games, with 2 doubles, 5 RBIs, and 4 Runs. In the box he utilizes a leg kick to get on time while showing controlled aggression through his swing. The swing path can naturally create loft which will be something to watch as he continues to add strength. At 5-foot-8, 170-pounds, Chase also stands out on the defensive side of the ball with his versatility. Looks strong defensively behind the dish, with the ability to play on the infield as well. Has given up just 1 hit and no earned runs over his first 3.1 innings on the mound. If Chase continues to trend in this direction, he’ll be up there with the top uncommitted seniors in the league.
